Product Developer-Equipment & Accessories

Description:

Outdoor Research is seeking an experienced, hands on Product Developer for their equipment and accessories group.  This role will support the Designer and Product Manager in the development of all new products from the initial design concept through to the final production tech packs.

Essential Functions:

  • Contribute to the development, engineering and specification process.
  • Assist with engineering the highest level of innovative and quality products.
  • Execute the product development timeline.
  • Communicate the specifications and product details to the suppliers.
  • Will handle increasingly complex issues while developing a track record of success in the development process.
  • Prepare and maintain seasonally accurate tech pack documents for every product in the line.
  • Plan and track the development schedule of all products to ensure a timely completion.
  • Critique all proto, sales and pre-production samples.
  • Eliminate errors and delays.
  • Ensure superior quality and timely delivery of sales samples.
  • Submit, review and approve all color lab dips.
  • Complete development of product specifications.
  • Ensure product quality/integrity of all products.
  • Work with raw material vendors.

Skills, Knowlege & Abilities:

  • Experience working with Asian manufacturing partners.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • 5+ years in development in the outdoor industry preferred.
  • Demonstratable understandign of outdoor product merchandising and sales.
  • Experience with executing procedures and processes.
  • Experience with Gerber PDM or related tech pack system.
  • Advanced competency in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of N.American, Asian and European suppliers for technical fabrications.
  • Must be able to travel 10-20% within in the US and Asia.
